Israël dénonce une « prime au terrorisme ». Le ministère israélien des Affaires étrangères a annoncé samedi la convocation dimanche des ambassadeurs des pays du Conseil de sécurité de l’ONU ayant voté en faveur de l’adhésion pleine et entière des Palestiniens aux Nations unies.
« Les ambassadeurs de France, du Japon, de la Corée du Sud, de Malte, de la République slovaque et de l’Équateur seront convoqués demain » et « une vive protestation leur sera exprimée », a indiqué le ministère sur son compte X.
« Israël n’acceptera pas l’établissement d’un État terroriste »
Une protestation sera également présentée aux ambassades des pays ayant voté pour la proposition algérienne, qui a été rejetée, visant à améliorer le statut des Palestiniens qui ont depuis 2012 le statut inférieur « d’État non-membre observateur ».
Selon le ministère, le message adressé aux ambassadeurs est le suivant : « Un geste politique aux Palestiniens et un appel à reconnaître un État palestinien – six mois après le massacre du 7 octobre – est une prime au terrorisme ». « Israël n’acceptera pas l’établissement d’un État terroriste qui mette en danger ses citoyens », a-t-il ajouté.
Les Palestiniens demandaient au Conseil de sécurité d’accepter qu’un « État palestinien » déjà reconnu par la majorité des capitales prenne sa place « légitime » au sein des Nations unies. Mais lors du vote jeudi, les États-Unis, qui ont tout fait pour retarder le vote, n’ont pas hésité à recourir à leur droit de veto, qu’ils utilisent régulièrement pour protéger leur allié israélien.
Les États-Unis avaient déjà répété ces dernières semaines que leur position n’avait « pas changé » depuis 2011. Ils estiment que l’ONU n’est pas le lieu pour la reconnaissance d’un État palestinien, qui devrait selon eux résulter d’un accord entre Israël et les Palestiniens. Ils rappellent aussi que la législation américaine leur imposerait de couper leur financement à l’ONU en cas d’adhésion palestinienne hors d’un tel accord bilatéral.
